Properties: 

Combustible, irritant gas with an unpleasant fishy smell. At higher concentrations it has a small similar to Ammonia.

Readily soluble in water and organic solvents.

Dimethylamine causes chemical burns to the skin and mucosa. It occurs in guano and is formed in the degradation of protein. It is manufactured from methanol and ammonia over an aluminium oxide catalyst with elimination of water. 

Dimethylamine Uses and Applications

Dimethylamine is an intermediate in the manufacture of fungicides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals, dyes, vulcanisation, accelerators, detergents and dimethylformamide; it is also used in the laboratory to introduce the dimethylamino group.
