Properties:

Colourless very toxic gas. A narcotic at elevated concentration. Since the gas has virtually no odour, chloropicrin is often added to enable detection. Readily soluble in most organic solvents yet practically insoluble in water.

Methyl Bromide Uses and Applications 

Methyl Bromide is used as a methylating agent in organic syntheses, as a solvent at low temperatures, and is also used to fill halogen incandescent lamps. 

Safety Information

Highly toxic, poisoning by Methyl Bromide mainly damages the central nervous system.

Methyl Bromide also contributes to the damage to the stratospheric ozone layer.
