Properties:
Colourless combustible gas with an odour resembling Ammonia.
It is readily soluble in water and ethanol but only slightly soluble in non polar organic solvents. It has a strongly alkaline reaction in water, forming water-soluble salts with acids.
Methylamine Uses and Applications
Methylamine is manufactured with ammonia and methanol over silica or metal oxide catalysts.
It is used to manufacture N,N’-dimethylurea, fungicides, insecticides, pharmaceuticals, rocket fuels, explosives, dyes and solvents.
